'Twould be a good idea to take you old one in as a sample Paul.
Since you are having to have one made, have you considered going to a glass shop and having one made of tempered glass? It would cost a bunch (more than plain glass) but it would be harder to break than plain glass and it wouldn't scratch, attract dust, or discolor like plastic would. It also would be easier to clean. You would have to shop around since the glass would have to be cut to size and shape and have the edges ground to the necessary taper, then tempered. Not all shops are equipped to do that and would have to send it out to do parts or all of the work, adversely affecting the price.
This is exactly what I want done, tempered glass. I would like to have a piece of smoked tempered glass made but I'll just have to see what options are available to me. It would cost more than plexiglass or lexan, but like LF said, it won't scratch or fade or collect dust/dirt as bad.
To be honest, I was really looking for the cheapest possible option.
I plan on changing the case within maybe a year so this is just a minor project.
Cheers
Paul.
