I'd use the WD black too. Anything with blue or green in the name I think is a power saving HDD. That means it will turn itself off when idle for a period.

With 16 GBs of memory it looks like I have almost 14 GBs free.

Get what you can afford and I recommend you use the maximum amount per slot, that way if you ever decide to add more, you`re not throwing away money If that makes sense to you.

I always thought 8gb was the sweet spot. What programs do you run that use 16GB? I have noticed several people here have 16GB and thought about it, but don't think I would get anything from it.

I missed that question, so in reply to Doug,

I don't use any programs that use 16GB, I just got it because it was cheap at the time and I felt like buying something haha.
