I don't know, but it sounds to me like your PSU's internal temperature could be going over 30°C and that means its total continuous capacity may be decreasing as well. It's rated to deliver 500W continuously at 30°C or below. If the temperature goes over 30°C, then its continuous capacity diminishes. 30°C is only 86°F. A good quality-made PSU would be rated for up to 50°C, which is 122°F.

The reason you can smell it is the PSU is new. I think that's the New PSU Smell, kind of like the New Car Smell.

Anyway, I know that what I said sounds like a cause for alarm, but your power draw is still too low to worry.

im not having lock ups, bsod, or nothing.... no funky voltages dips etc....

do you guys think that once i get my cooler that it will be beneficial to keep base at 4ghz and turbo to 4.4 or base at 4.2 and turbo at 4.4? for what i do which is gaming and video editing, would it be good to do or just create more heat and do nothing? the most CPU intensive games i have are BF3 and FC 3. thats really it.

if its not beneficial then im just going to leave it what its at and just adjust the voltage and get it as low as possible.

how do i set the turbo core voltage?

i lowered my voltage from 1.3910V to 1.3470V and its running stable. but when i run prime95 on less then 4 cores, the frequency jumps to 1.408V which basically defeats the purpose of lowering it in the first place.... so how do i control the turbo core voltage?

nvm i got it lol..... so im working on voltages now.

alright im setteing on 1.30V @ 4.2ghz. it still might be a little high, but compared to the 1.46V that it was going to when at 4.2ghz, i think its much better, and cooler lol

now the question remains, should i OC to 4.4? or is it just not worth it, and will just create more heat.

I think it is more for Overclocking purposes not sure about trying to use less voltage that should be with LLC but if you are using MSI then turn on APS automatic phase switching

So, it can't be changed. What needs to be changed, ultimately, is the core voltage. The core voltage isn't displayed by Core Temp or even by Real Temp, but it is displayed by programs like CPU-Z, HWMonitor, HWiNFO, etc. Adjusting other voltages can help too, but I'm trying to avoid opening a can of worms in this post in order to keep it short.

Now normally I would help, but being that this is an AMD system, I can't be of much help because I've never overclocked an AMD system nor have I ever helped anyone with one.

I understand everything but VID. got everything working and I lowered it to 2.8V max at 4.2ghz. I ran prime for 10 mins and it was fine. I went down to 2.4 and started to get BSOD. So unsettling at 2.8V. Now I just have to run prime for an extended period of time.
