    SSD Upgrade

    Hi guys,

I just got the eBuyer newsletter which has pretty decent offers on HDDs and SSDs, so I'm tempted to get an upgrade.

It's been a while since I last looked into it all so I was wondering what you chaps would recommend to get? A couple of months ago I saw an SSD review in PC Format which rated the Samsung 840s very highly, but things have probably changed since then.

    Cheers,

    Tom

    Hi Tom,

As far as I know the Samsung 840 and 840 pro are still top dog and fantastic drives. You won't go wrong getting one of them mate.

    No worries,

You going Pro or regular? I put a regular 250gb in a pc I built for my dad earlier in the year, it's running great.
Obviously you get slightly better numbers on the pro and a little more space, but the regular is cheaper and was fine for my dad.

Samsung 840 Pro, OCZ Vector, Plextor M5 Pro, Corsair Neutron GTX.......those are the "premium" SSD's out now. All are very reliable, and very fast. I prefer Samsung, but if I needed another SSD today, I would probably try the OCZ Vector out.

Thanks guys, I think I'm going to go with the 840 regular - it's still a lot, lot better than my HDD

I would rep you Kelly, but I'm afraid I have to spread it around first
