piece by piece upgrade of an old computer?

hi i lately got a 500W psu from my father who got it from his job becouse they didnt need it, now that my power problems in my computer is out of the way, i figured that i accually can get a good gpu! i can soon afford an GTX 660 or a GTX 650Ti but my cpu is an old amd phenom x3 2.4Ghz and my motherboard is only DDR2, i will in the future get a new motherboard, cpu, maybe new HDD, new ram, and possibly a new case, but if i buy a good gpu, and use it before upgrade, will i get a better preformance than with my old gpu ( nvidia geforce 430 from asus? ) becouse i know there will be bottleneck, but if its a pretty good increase i will buy the card and later when i save up enough, buy a new cpu etc..

Let us know the exact make and model of the power supply and the amps on the 12 volt rail and we`ll let you know what we think of it. A power supply is nothing to skimp on and I wouldn`t start building a pc around a subpar power supply.

You will need a better psu. That psu EVRY - Netthandel / DELTACO NÄTDEL 500W ATX12V REV 2.2, AKTIV PFC, PCI-E, SATA has 15amps on the 12 volt. A 660 needs a 450w with 24 amps on the 12v rail, the 650ti needs 20amps with on the 12volt rail with at least a 400 watt psu

I would get a better PSU before you even think of getting a new video card.
