The new cooler you have is not amazing, reading through the thread you said at one point that it his 59.5C running Prime, then a little later you said it hit 70C, a lot of this could be to do with room temp, but Prime is very hard on a CPU, either of those temps are not bad. I expect if it was hitting 70C in Prime then general use and gaming it would only hit maybe 55C which is totally fine. Idle temps are not very important unless they are massively high, again room temp plays a big part but anything between 20 and 40 is OK really.

I don't think you had much cause for concern, but I think you do now without any paste on it. I would get some on ASAP and temps should be fine.

Hi, and thanks, basically I did use speed fan.. but for some weird reason the value was showing at -60 for my cpu... and same with some other program, then I used hardware monitor.. was the only will to display a reading, I just updated my BIOS as I was 3 years behind and heard my motherboard had bug glitch giving false readings.. updated and now idle at around 32c.. abit confused

I used prime.. my idle temp said 32 c... so far with stress test it's reading 59.5
For a Sandy 2600 that is good temps Intel chips TJ max are low 100's

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, I was not trying to say you bought a bad cooler, I kind of meant compared to say some closed loop water cooling or something. I just meant that you can't expect really low temps and that the temps you were getting "before" you removed the thermal paste were just fine for that kind of cooling.

I think you guys are getting abit mixed up.. "the fan I got has pre-applied paste" yet my idle temps still 40 c, under full load maybe around 70.. so tried to reset the fan.. and noticed the paste under it was a mess... wasn't smooth, even.. all lumpy.. so I am going to buy a better paste... what will be 100% better than it was before.. so I am confused will comments I am getting "oh no pasteeeee end of warzzzzzzorldddd" I get it.. thermal helps alot in cooling the system, and it's my intention to buy a better brand.. I never even cleaned the old thermal paste of.. I was that anxious to test the new fan out.... but trust me when I say this.. ill hopefully have thermal paste on it etc... around monday.. and hopefully then there is improvements....

P.S I will buy cleaning stuff for it aswell... so no need to panic.... I have intel.. my TJ is 98 C.. they can take quite a lot of heat.. and if it comes to a point where my computer can be harmed it will shut off.

Didn't want you to take it the wrong way but reading through the Thread it's sparse comments I and all of us are sorry for the mix up

It's a good idea buying a better paste just a little future advice though when ever using a new cooler it's best to take the pre-applied paste off and apply your own

Anyhow seems you have it under control Core temp and HWmonitor should give you the best Temps to go by

I got told to go by the core temps? as it's the hottest part.. and will tell me the real temp.. right or wrong?..

without thermal paste.. just idle.. is has a max of 50.. so... I got a lot of different suggestions to thermal paste? can you suggest any good ones?

some say it's hard to spread, do you put like a little blob in the middle of the CPU, and spead with? I heard like an old card or something. and doesn't AS5 have a burn in period?
