Doubt it AMD has targeted Consoles every Console on the market has AMD hardware this is where Mantle comes in and this is where it really doesn't matter what you run

What you have now will not be any better then next Gen because they are going to be APU 's maybe one more AM3+ chip that's all everything else is shifted towards APU and Mobile share

I read somewhere recently that the Fx was the last enthusiast chip AMD are going to produce until at least 2015 and even then there's guarantee But! Going back a few months I'd read that they were going to do a new socket and stick to it for the foreseeable future. Who knows!
As Solar said though they're putting a lot into the console market so maybe that's the way they'll continue.

yea; both Sony and micrcorsoft as far as their consoles go have decided to go with amd chipsets rather than intel for whatever reason. And yes that could very well be that amd may go toward the console market for the future. I guess only time will tell as far as that goes.

welp i guess intel is my next upgrade..... damn! dident want to spend all that money! owell lol im thinking i7 and asus mobo lol by the time i upgrade, new stuff will be out. but as far as GPU's go, looks like AMD is taking the cake over Nvidia with Mantle and all. BF4 is going to be the first game that supports it. after that, who knows. i think a LOT og games are going to support it.

idk. to me, it seems as if AMD has hit a wall with their CPU's... like the 9590.... REALLY? just an 8350 beefed up with some more volts.

With the declining desk top market share it's doubtful we will see new cpu's for sometime. Mother boards, chip sets and cpu's are stagnate right now. GPU's seem to be the only big mover with in the desk top market.

I would stock up on 1 or two extra FX chips, in case they change to APUs for the time being. I am serious. My 8150 with a Sabertooth 990FXGEN3R2 are on the way, package should come this Thursday, so if all goes well, Thursday evening I will be running on my new 8150 *tiger* ( I named it lol ) and I will keep the 6100/970a-ud3 as backup with 1600mhz 18gb Crucial ram I have for it as spare. I could build two computers now, but why waste the electricity. I wonder if I will get the tin box for the 8150, I specifically asked for it. I might give a last OC try before my new build with my 6100 and try for a 5.2 or 5.5...who knows lol. But seriously, If I were you guys, stock up on them. I will also buy a spare 6100.

i think what i might do is either keep what i got till my CPU craps out or just gets obsolete and then make the transition over to Intel. tho i dont want to spend $400 on a CPU and MOBO and a reinstall of windows. but i think my rig will last 3 years at minimum.

What declining desktop market? It is a fallacy because it does not count the millions of us who roll our own systems.

AMD stated 2-3 years ago it would shift focus to GPU and not compete in the CPU arena as much. It seems they are following that plan since buying ATI out.

The money spent on an Intel system I think is worth it in terms of speed an performance, it really is a big difference, eh Tommy?
