How loud is the reference R9 290s?

im in the market for a new Gpu as my 6950 is getting a bit old now amd struggling even at 1080p.

now for the price the Raedon R9 290 is a no brainer, but everyone says its loud. Now watching videos is ok.. but depending on the mic used its hard to tell..

so anyone here have one? how loud is it? I think my 6950 is fairly loud under full load, any more and id hate it.

the non reference models are slowly trickling into the UK but currently their added price point isnt justifiable.

part of me on the noise factor is swaying towards the gtx 770 which is cheaper and less powerful but still more than adequate for ultra settings at 1080p but less future proof.. ahh choices

almost no suppliers have the tri x in the uk yet. and its almost £100 more ontop of the reference card, pushing it towards 290x prices..

sware ive never actually had a problem choosing cards, its always been easy as theres always 1 stand out card at each price point =/

I game with headphone on.. which also makes me think screw it when it comes to noise..

Yes the reason why they are so high is because of Litecoin Bitcoin crap

We as consumers should complain because others are making profit isn't our fault charge them extra not the little guys

The ASUS 290X's are much quieter than I thought they would be. Quieter than the Sapphire vapor x's I replaced. The ASUS has dual fans and each fan has a different blade design.

The 79xx and r9's have gone nuts on price, all the litecoin miners. What's funny is so many people have jumped on the litecoin bandwagon the mining difficulty was gone up significantly. So much that they may never get a ROI.

I had a pair of 7950 hashing away last year and it was doing OK, then the price of LTC's went up, thousands of new gpu's came online, I went from .8 per day to .2 and it's dropping fast. LTC is like BTC, the ship has sailed, it's much too late to see roi.

You have to have major money to play in that field pretty much not worth it unless you have money to play already

Just another excuse to make it not worth upgrading while i am seriously wanting a new GPU set up for my 2gpu's i can only get one and then have to work up for another one for Sli which is 1400 in total

i bought both of these cards for 750.00 Obviously there is something wrong with this picture and someone should point it out that there is no reason to rob people like this

This is the number one reasons why Console get so much love over PC gamers when prices were fair in the last 5 years they turned around saw the fan base grown then fk it up by shooting the prices out of reach yes most of us will go ahead and get it but others that are trying to have a decent machine still have to settle for lower end parts because of pricing total BS

Unfortunately it's capitalism at it's worst. I get the whole "supply and demand" thing but prices are what i would call "profiteering". 200 years ago in this country you could be shot for profiteering, the good old days
