    HP ZR30w died (sad face)

Well, it looks like my "too good to be true" deal actually was.

It worked fine for the past 3 months, but the other day it started flickering and blanking out during use. It seemed to be totally random as nothing I could do would cause it to blank or restore. The power led remained lit and the backlight was still on so I'm guessing that it is a fault in the video circuits.

Yesterday when I turned on the PC for my nightly gaming session the monitor wouldn't show a picture at all. Power led was on but no backlight.

I'm back to the Asus ProArt and Hannspree dual monitor setup for now...I'm going to see if HP will do a warranty repair (3 year warranty, monitor is just over 1 year old) but since I don't have the original receipt and box I'm not holding out too much hope.

If I can't get a warranty repair then I may get a pair of 24 inch Dell UltraSharp monitors to go with the Asus and try Nvidia Surround. I've watched a few YouTube videos and read some forums, Surround looks interesting.

So, I'm officially bummed (yeah, I know that has a different meaning in the UK, not an altogether inappropriate feeling for this situation).

Dam, sorry to hear that Kent.

If you can't get it repaired on warranty how about seeing if you can get it repaired locally or something? They should be able to give an indication of cost before they repair it. It might just be something simple and not cost alot.

HP's Service is the worst I've ever experienced at the moment.

An HP service tech just delivered a brand new HP Z30i as a warranty replacement for the dead ZR30w.

Woohoo!! Back to gaming the way it should be.

For now, I'm quite pleased with HP Warranty and Customer Service.
