I told you, I'm too chicken to do it. My new question, is there anyone that know any good boutique builders?

Puget Systems, iBuy Power. Are you really going to buy one or is this a rhetorical project? Also I think "boutique builders" is an old term. Custom PC builder would be more in use today.

Building your own is not hard Computer0304 its researching the components that takes a little knowledge (my system spec) is my 3rd build, ask someone you know who has already built to give you some guidance and good luck

Someone who actually owns an Alienware machine. Its darn good. The hardware inside is no different then what is sold in stores. I most certainly would not have save that much even if I did built it myself. (Which I am capable of doing if there wasn't a lack of money.) The Processor (i7-3930k) and the Graphics card (GTX 690) alone would have been over $1,500, adding in the limited LGA2011 Mirco-ATX boards, $400 for a motherboard.

Then the case, its not a plain box there are design elements and other features that you only see in premium cases. Lighting elements on the panels are a gimmick, but are part of the aesthetics none the less. There are practical elements however, internal theater lighting turns on after you remove the side cover keeps everything lite up so you can work. Along the back IO panel, down in the bottom left corner is a button that turns on a strip of LEDs along the side, lighting up the IO. (I have only seen one or two cases at retail that offer this and those were piss poor compared.)

At most I paid a $300 premium for warranty, support, and labor. But I would not have saved a single penny even if I did build it myself, nor would I have gotten anything better hardware wise, the same CPU the same graphics card, same about of RAM, storage space, etc. The only real different, the case would not have been as nice.

* And no, the Alienware is not locked down. The EFI bios is fully accessible, and the processor fully overclockable along with the RAM and everything else.

Yes this is a real PC choice. This is kind of an followup to Getting a new computer $800-$1000 where people suggested boutique PC builders but I refused to go that path. But I changed my mind and chose the boutique PC builder path.

I would if you don't want to build your own the asking price is pretty fair because they do put in quality parts and you have the option to customize from a build you choose

Platform CPU etc you can pretty much build it like you want it and price the parts to be with in budget
