Thanks, guys. Actually, the bathroom location worked fine for the original router and modems. The first router died about a year ago after five years of service. I went ahead and replaced the internet modem at the same time as I did the router and cleaned up the rats' nest at that time. One bonus; I can sit on the throne while doing some of the work on it.

Actually, I shouldn't refer to the original mess as a rats' nest. Even Templeton from Charlotte's Web wouldn't have stooped that low live there.

I just have the internet modem on a box with the separate phone modem on the floor and the router on the wall under my desk. Looks pretty bad and I need to vacuum it often but I get my WIFI at the neighborhood pool so that's cool I guess.

Thanks! Now, if I could keep the area behind my desk even half as neat... (even the roaches won't go there!).

And that is why all my network equipment is in the linen closet in my bathroom.

Nothing wrong with simplicity as long as it meets your needs.

The outdoor antenna is for a cell phone connection and, so far, weather hasn't been a problem.

I'm still worried about how well an indoor antenna will hold up to my harsh climate. Again, does anyone have any ideas for how to protect the antenna from the elements?

Not much other than getting a exterior grade antenna :/
