This is sort of like, tell everybody how stupid you are day.
I put some thermal paste on a cpu and tried to put the cpu in back to front. It got thermal paste all over the pins.
I think it shows that even members that have built several computer can make mistakes.
The good thing is it may help new members to understand that when we request to double or triple check things their is a reason.
We have been there and done that.
Who know? Me having a dumb day just might help someone. I hope so.
If anything its fun making fun of yourself
I have also plugged in the wrong power supply cables on an very old Pc, and blew the motherboard and psu. (Back when cords could almost plug in anywhere, even the wrong way.)
Not so fun was when after knowing better I install a ATX mobo into a case that I had just pulled a ATX mobo, I built the whole system and no joy when booting. Yep turned out to have an extra stand off which either was needed with the previous mobo or was in a place it didn't do harm to it. Well the install fried the 2nd mobo and taught me a valuable lesson......it's normally the basic physical things that mess you up so never take them for granted.

linnemeyerhere that is a lesson that could save someone hundreds of dollars.
That is if they read your post before they install the motherboard.
I can see a new thread in the coming.
How I Screwed up my Computer.
If one can learn by others mistakes it always cheaper.
We all have these stories, it really is a genesis of thought process when building up a system. There really is no one correct way but there are many must do steps and to avoid them can prove costly for time, patience and pocket.
