The UPS on my home theater setup started acting strangely a few weeks ago. It would randomly switch to battery power for a few seconds as if it were conducting a self test; however, it didn't show up as a self test in the log nor did it ever show a battery fault.

So, seeing as how I bought it in January, 2006, and the "fault" seemed so random, I decided to buy a new one. Since the old one hadn't given any trouble in the past 8 years, I got the same brand, Cyberpower.

Pulled the batteries out of the old unit and tested them. One of them lasted less than 90 seconds under load, the other lasted for 57 minutes at 4.3 amps (roughly half of its 8AH capacity).

Checked on Amazon, the OEM battery is $43 US with a 5-star rating (only 7 voters). A generic replacement is about $20 US with a 4-star rating (200+ voters). But, the generic battery had more than a few reviews that said it failed in less than 12 months.

I may get just one OEM battery to go with the working original battery and use the UPS on my test bench.

Third picture is battery testing.

At least they don't price that stuff like ink-jet cartridges.

AddRam have you tested that Arctic Alumina and done any comparing?
If one could get a couple three degrees it would be worth changing to it for me. I added fans worth over $100.00 for 3 deg. $8.55 would be a great investment.

Out of Cooler Master Ice Fusion, Arctic Silver 5 and Arctic Alumina, I like the temps I get with Arctic Alumina the best. I`m in a hot room now and my temps are at 22,23,24,25 at idle.

Never go above 76c running tests with all cores at a 4.2 OC
