My first PC build in over a decade. I left PC gaming for consoles... and started working for Apple so I switched over to the dark side... but when the XBOne came out, I started looking towards building a gaming rig. I assembled my pieces slowly so put together after the ability to return anything. Like if I had known the USB3.0 port on the Mobo wouldn't fit perfectly due to the 500R case design, I would have gone with the 600t or a HAF case. I also should have gone with the 240mm corsair brand rad because it wouldn't have needed any "fandangling" to get it to fit properly. But alas... here she is...

    4.0ghz (4.4oc) i7 4790k. MSI Gaming 7 mobo. MSI R9 280 3GB. 2x4GB DDR3. 120 Corsair GTX SSD booting Windows 7 Pro. 2TB WD Black. Corsair 500R case. 120mm Cool Master closed circuit cpu cooling.

    Thanks. :)

It's still a work in progress... (2x4gb on it's way back to new egg for RMA, so I should have 16gb total eventually. I need a new monitor some day as mine is almost 10 years old. And I would like to swap the 120mm cool master for a 240 corsair cpu cooling rad set up. And I have a scsi drive I need to install, or rather re-learn or teach myself what needs to be done. I'm not sure if the board supports it somewhere or if it's still like the old days and I need a pci card?)...

But thank you! It feels good to be back on PC. :)

Nice build Master Turkey, don't worry alot of us are never done with our build (we just think we are) until upgrade-its or that new build itch sets in.

Oh Yeah and there are Boxing week sales on so there should be lots of action in this thread for the next couple of weeks.

That's a sweet build Master Turkey :) and not to mention I love the Motherboard you got actually I've also planned to get MSI Gaming 5 Mobo in coming months but before that I need to get a Samsung EVO 840 120GB SSD for my PC in which I will install Windows 8 on dual boot and already waiting for my new GTX 970 to arrive which will be taking another 10 to 15 days as it's coming from USA..

P.S. just remembered that I will have to buy Windows 8 as well

No no of course here Windows 7's are also available widely I already have my copy with me!! Windows 8 I will be buying for DX12 and I heard that Windows 8 has slightly better performance on SSD's and the GTX 970 is full DX12 compatible and sooner or later some DX12 game might be coming in future besides I haven't used 8 yet don't know at first it didn't appealed me at all and I still love my 7.. on the SSD I will have windows 8 and on my Seagate HDD 7 will be keep running too will just switch to dual OS

Keep in mind that Win 10 isn't all that far off and, so far, it appears to be better than Win 8 and even Win 7 (though, truth be told, I have no plans to upgrade from Win 7 anytime soon no matter how good Win 10 may prove to be since Win 7 meets my needs and I'm used to it).

Same here Jeannie I don't feel upgrading from 7 to 8 or 10 even if it will be released in sometime but that would not be as stable and compatible like 7 is though my reasons for Windows 8 on a separate drive is totally because of gaming needs

I'm not a gamer (the only game on my computers is XP Pinball ) so that isn't an issue for me.
