You should also take a look at the Maximus Gene and Hero boards in the ROG series.

Thanks linn, I'm in no hurry, I plan to wait until the new chip has been out for a few weeks and see what the feedback is. What little I have read claims the GA Z97X-Gaming is a very good board with great vrm design and construction.

As an owner of a Sabertooth Z87 I can safely say I'd love to upgrade to the Z97 Mk I. It's supposed to be a great board.

Unless you actually need built-in WiFi or NFC I would go with the Sabertooth or one of the ROG models Alan suggests. The Sabertooth line has proven to be a solid performer and I suspect the Z97 version will be the same. I would also recommend using one the Haswell Refresh CPUs too and not the earlier ones.

Yeah, saw that price on VII Hero...& VII Ranger and also quite affordable. A matter of two ASM1061 Sata port on the first one.

I'm a supporter of MSI products as well, maybe mainly with local importation and support only an hour away helps? So many great choices along with ASUS, ASRock and others we're lucky to have these options and wished we had more on the processor side.
