Samsung hands down. They have been dominating the SSD market for years and later this month they are releasing the 850 Pro model which will absolutely be the fastest, most reliable drive ever made.

In terms of performance, it's very unlikely you would be able to tell the difference. The access times of any SSD is why they are preferred for operating systems and applications. The access times of either of those drives are much much faster than any spinning drive.

Reliability is another issue. Any of them can drop dead for no apparent reason, but Samsung's generally have a good reputation.

Take a look at the new Crucial MX100 series. Good brand, less expensive than many.

You need to size the thing correctly. Windows only occupies 20 GB or so. No reason to get a 240 GB drive if you have no intention of ever putting over 80 GB on it.

I have not tried all brands of ssd's.
I do have Intel and Samsung and they both brands have performed excellent.
I don't bother with all the read and write charts. You will never see the difference.
I did my selection thinking on reliability. Both brands rank very high on quality.

Sounds like you have got quite a lot of shit going on and a lot of threads too! I ain't gonna bash ya too much but really you should have just had 1 thread on your future build then everyone would have known what was in play.

I don't know what the build is for because I can't be bothered to search for one of your other threads again regarding the CPU.

I think it will all work together I really have no idea on the Xeon chips but I guess you already got advice on that.

Regarding the SSD (Which I think you had another thread running on) the Samsung is the best but that does not say the other drive is bad. Have you looked at the Crucial MX100 range? They are cheap and get very good reviews. I am considering one myself.

You should really try and keep it all to 1 thread. I might ask admin to look into it as I imagine different people are all answering different threads and it can get confusing.

will do that was not intentional. I just had questions about one topic that did not fit in my thread and was told I should go to another section of the forum was not on purpose I have looked at the ssd's you suggested and as someone else in the thread suggested them earlier as well. ignatzatsonic pointed out a good fact that I should also consider reliability of the products. And considering that from what I have heard samsung is more reliable in terms of the ssd randomly dropping dead I think I will still get the samsung evo ssd. Just because it will give me closure when it comes to the product randomly becoming defective.

Thank you for the information when I added up the GB's of the programs I have now and included the estimate you gave for my windows consumption you are correct the size difference wont matter much.
