    Computer for surveillance cameras

I'm planning a 6 IP camera system using a PC for management and recording. I just can't find enough info on what CPU to use, as well as how much RAM needed. I'm going to use a CPU with onboard graphics, probably an i5 or i7 processor. Think I could get by with an i3? How much ram?

You don't need much of a computer for surveillance camera usage. As long as it has the physical capability to fit the required cards for the camera interface.

An i3 with 4GB of RAM and some really large hard disks would be just fine, IMHO.

Look into a NUC with an i3 or splurge with a i5. It just hangs of the vesa mount on the monitor and then run a usb to your hdd.
