Building 2 computers at once - would like your thoughts and advice

Hi all - my current asus ddr2 mvp deluxe is basically a toaster for what i want to do and i am building2 new rigs right now . im building an AMD gameing\internet\multi pourpose rig - and a intel workstation. for graphic art - video editing - sound editing - video game creation[black ink - fusion- rpgmaker-and sutch] here it goes...

    -AMD

    -Parts i have already =

    - motherboard - sabertooth 990 fx 2.0 32-gig ddr3 max ram

    - amd fx 8320 8 core

    - amd ddr3 1866 16 gig 2x8

    - memorex dvd writer 24x

    - ultra rouge m295 case [ was on sale ]

    - multicard reader 4x usb 3.0 front 5.25

    - AMD sapphire vapor - x r9-290x 8gb [ multi 50inch 1080p 120 hrtz and possibly 4k displays ]

PARTS PLANNING TO GET FOR AMD RIG

    - EVGA supernova 1200w 80plus silver power supply [going to be on all the time]

    - ADATA premier pro sp 920 2.5 ssd drive 512gb for os [ Hardware Canuancks raved [for cool canadians] about this thing. and they beat samsung-crucial and almost everyone else for speed ]

    - western digital 4tb enterprise drive for storage [ only 48bucks more than the black ]

    - 128 gb adata ssd for certian games.

    - noctua fans because its going to be on all the time.

    - lamptron FC 5v2 fan controller [4 channels - 30 watts per channel - 2 fans per channel]

INTEL WORKSTATION [ going to take a while to gather all the parts for this one but i started ]

    - parts i already have

    - Thermaltake level 10 snow edition case. [ Very cool - love the design and fits some e-atx boards ]

    - pioneer blu ray burner bdr - 2209 [ pretty nice feature wise but not the crazy 180 dollar one ]

    - AFT XM-37u photo kiosk. 3.5 inch with usb 3.0 [ 50 bucks at new egg really pretty and neat for photos]

    - Cooler Master M2 silent pro 1500 watt [ was on sale for half price on new egg had to snag it when i saw the reviews and these overclockers using it with liquid nitrogen to cool the proccesor in a competetion on you tube]

PARTS I STILL NEED TO GET FOR THE INTEL WORKSTATION

    - AS Rock x99 WS LGA 2011-v3 atx-extended
    - up to 128gb ddr4 at 2133 with out over clock
    - 5x pci express slots 3.0
    - 1x pci express stlo 2.0
[ seems like a solid board according to reviews including a decent one on you tube . dude swears its one of the best as rocks he has ever seen and should make a great ws ] [ also it is half the price of the asus ws that compares to it ] plus it fits in my case according to pc part picker. heard it was harder to build from than other brands but im here to learn so its cool.

-procceser - intel core i7-5930k 6 core [ to start ] thanks for catching my goof. def not a xeon

    - 64 gb ram 2133 [ can fill it up later want to finish it this decade ] was thinking g. skill ripjaws 8x8gb

    - Same hard drive and fan config as other to start.

    - 5.25 inch lian li pc 12volt ciggarette lighter adapter with dual rocker switches. [ its at frozen pc and i must have a car cig lighter because with the switches it has to be one of the all time coolest things to do with an extra bay that i have ever seen 20 bucks reg im opting for the 30 buck one from chooseing custom switches and yes you can plug and charge anything that would use a car lighter and it will work like a usb basically provided u have the adapter. seemed better than a drawer for the same price.]

    - asus pa 279q 27 inch widescreen led true color monitior . [ true 10 bit color for art and video ]

    - wacom [ i really like the thermaltake gameing mouse for art the amount of dpi settings on the fly is fantastic but i reccomend the white metal one as the button started sticking on the blk non metal one from holding it down so much when doing back grounds.] was thinking the 350 or 500 dollar ones because for the price i would rather get one of those and get the true color display than a 1500 dollar wacom.

    - fugifilm XT-1 silver [ pics for art ]

    - a Tripplite HT10DBS home theater isobar to protect each pc. [ under 100 bucks a piece and they use this brand in hospital rooms]

    - AND FINALLY a startech s3520bu33er 3.5 inch 2 bay hard drive inclosure for the workstation. plan to just house 2 4tb western digital enterprise drives for my work not going to mess with raid huge external hard drives are too cheap for me to want to mess with it. [usb 3.0]. these are the slightly newer models they made and are supposed to be pretty solid. 77bucks on new egg. may eventually get 2.

    - also i have been using a 2tb wd passport and a 4tb seagate external with my toaster and they have been working well.

    - almost forgot wanted advice here too WS video card. im thinking 1 and eventually 2 Titan Zs 12gb of video ram a piece thats pretty good for gameing too sounds great to me. and 2 cost what 1 decent quattro runs for. what do yall think?

DONE!!!!! so yall thats my plan really sorry there are no pics but this is what i can do right now. have been out of pc since the commadore 64 and things ended with an 86 [ about a year after doom 2 ]. came back a year ago and went nuts. also plan to get 2 old rigs going . one specifically for running fallout 3 modded as smoothly as possible and an older rig to enjoy what i missed. very excited about all this and would love any feed back or advice.

Do you need a CPU for the Intel machine?

    Maybe I missed it.

I assume you have no particular budget in mind.

thanks for catching my goof on the processer im tired. as far as budget i really dont hardly have one. but as things are going i should have the amd done in about 3 months. and then it will be time to save to get the base componets of the intel machine. i have just put alot of thought into what i think would do me the best without spending the full 1000 on the i7 that ones about 5 to 600. and the ram is probably over kill for me right now but the idea of it is just too cool for me. plus i do like to multitask. but according to the teacher at cybraiay it a 6 core is the least one would want to go for graphic arts. and the wacom 10 bit asus art display and the startech hard drive enclosure with drives would certiaianly be things i add later. i was looking around for a video card to pop in it that is invidia and 8gb v ram minimum but its 1000 and the titan z is 1500. so for that price differance i think i would be better off just getting a 4gb card while i save for the 1st titan.[they should be cheaper by the time i can pop this together. but the amd will allow me to get started i think. hopeing the camera will drop in price by the time i get to it as well. this ws is totally not happening overnight. kind of wondering what components to wait the longest on. prob the big 3 that are left since i got the power supply for a steal.

Normally, I wouldn't shop at all until I was within 2 or 3 weeks of buying the motherboard, RAM, and CPU. Those are the primary components.

But you don't have a budget, so there aren't any disadvantages to buying it one piece at a time over many months. All a mistake will cost you is money.

Have you built PCs from the ground up before?

The problem with buying parts piecemeal instead of all at once is many, if not all, your parts will be outside of the vendors' return window by the time you build it, meaning you will have to deal with getting a warranty return, which sometimes can take a while, or just be out of luck if you find a part to not be compatible. you also waste warranty time on parts just setting there laughing at you. It would be better to save shekels until you can afford to buy all of what you need at once, then get to work on the rig ASAP.

A possible exception is buying a case ahead of time so you have plenty of time to prep or mod it for the new build.

I was going for a gaming and graphic's build with new tech stuff not really much of a budget
First build so it's okay to be crazy stupid

pupsealdeluxe it would be a lot easier to read your post if you use some sort of format.

    Capital letters were required.
    Paragraphs to break things up.
    Proper punctuation.

For me at least it just to hard to follow.

    - sorry about the format.

    - this is my first time building from the ground up. [ heard it might be tough with the as rock if i do go with that one ]

    - totally agree with the piecemeal one as well but money can burn a hole in my pocket so to speak. and when some things go
on sale for like half price [ like the power supply ] i think its time to jump on it.

    - thrash zones is lookin pretty cool. thought about the corsair case for the amd one but then ran into a deal with free macafee
anti virus for a year with the ultra rouge case. wich is a little cheap in places [the front cover-and 5.25 bays are tricky]

    - and yes i am worried about some of the parts being defective. I have seen alot of horror stories on new egg and tiger direct
about parts having to be returned. Hopefully it will be just a single item if any that needs replacing.

    - Also its worth noteing that i would be using windows 7. and im already a little worried that i will be forced to go from it to an
operating system that would be going along with touch screen and more consoleish trends with the newer stuff they have
released. Seems to me that 8 is very much that way although i have not used it. just saw a lot of vista like hate for it.

Thanks for the advice and replies will check in often. And after i know what im doing better would like to fish around
myself and help as it is pretty fun. any more would be very welcome.

good grief sorry yall this looked pretty good then i posted and its totally different than what i was lookin at. ill get better with the presentation.

I agree. It's worth less than what you paid for it.
