Which laptop shall I go for ?

    Hi,

My brother is in need of buying a laptop and he's going to do that in the next few days. He asked me to help him to choose the best one for his budget, I think I have already decided which one shall I tell him to go for but I would appreciate more opinions.
He needs it mainly for web browsing / watching movies and maybe sometimes would need to use it for university projects in software such as Auto Cad ( basically just practise )

Alright so, his budget is $400 ( 350 euros ) and since he's in Germany at the moment he prefers to buy it from Germany.

I searched for a while and these 2 are the best laptops I have come by so far.

    HP 350 G2 15,6 Zoll Notebook L8B11ES 1TB 1000 GB Intel Core i3 USB 3.0 HDMI DOS | eBay

    HP 350 G2 ( $350 )

    Display: 15,6 inches
    Resolution: 1366 x 768
    CPU: Intel Core i3 4030U dual core 1,9 GHz ( 2 cores 4 threads )
    GPU: Intel HD Graphics 4400
    RAM: 4 GB DDR3 1600 MHz
    HDD: 1 TB

    Here's the 2nd one

    HP Notebook - 4 x 2.40 GHz - 8GB - 500GB - USB 3.0 - HDMI - Windows 7 Prof. | eBay

    HP Notebook ( $360 )

    Display: 15,6 inches
    Resolution: 1366 x 768
    CPU: AMD A8-6410 2 GHz ( 4 cores 4 threads )
    GPU: AMD Radeon R5 Graphics
    RAM: 8 GB DDR3 1600 MHz
    HDD: 500 GB

As for OS of the laptops, Im not quite sure but I think both of those have Windows 7 Pro 64 bit

In my opinion the first one is better due to:

    • Better CPU ( better performance per core of the i3 4030U, newer manufacturing process )
    • Bigger HDD ( 1 TB vs 500 GB )
    • $10 cheaper

Pretty much it wins in everything except RAM and GPU clock speed if you ask me and I think that 4 GB would be enough for his needs as well as the GPU of the first laptop.

Please share your opinions, also feel free to suggest if you find any better laptop up to $400.

    Thank you.

Is that what you say from your own experience?
    Suggest me another site then..

Also, so far I have had good experience with ebay, I bought a motherboard which was supposed to be used but it's like new, barely used, a CPU cooler and CPU Intel Xeon E5620 which was easily overclocked from 2,4 ghz to 4,4 ghz.
The items were used and they work just fine ..

H-P 355 if you don't have any issues with ebay
It at least has 2.4 Ghz which is a heck of a lot better than the other :)

HP 355 ? That laptop has AMD A4 6210 CPU which is worse than the AMD A8 6410 CPU from the 2nd laptop I mentioned in my first post.
Plus it's exactly $400, so I dont think it's worth.
Also the 2,4 ghz of the second laptop I mentioned is turbo frequency, the main base clock is 2 ghz

I already said my opinion in the first post.
You suggested and that's alright, I dont see any problem here, I just told you my opinion for your suggestion.
Thing is I didnt quite understand what you really meant, because the HP 355 doesnt have a 2,4 ghz CPU, instead it has 1,8 ghz CPU so would be good if you can tell me which laptop you were thinking on

That's turbo speed of the processor, blame the seller for using a misleading tittle.
Main base clock is 2 GHz it's just the turbo speed that is 2,4 GHz
If you open the link you'll see the real clock speed and turbo speed

Found this on a German computer store, not sure if you were looking for suggestions or just opinions:

Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E555 20DH000WGE ohne Betriebssystem - Notebooks / Laptops - computeruniverse

or this one with OS, and just under the 350 budget limit:
