Are you referring to the installation of Windows 7 on Z170 boards?

As I understand it, by default the Z170 chipset and BIOS will not support full USB 2.0 Enhanced Host Controller (EHCI) mode. This means that USB devices will not work without an XHCI environment.

[PSA] Z170 chipset may affect Windows 7 users - www.hardwarezone.com.sg

It's a known issue and there are workarounds that vary between motherboard manufacturers.

Enabling USB legacy support in the UEFI is one such workaround.
Just as an FYI, I recently changed my MB to a Z170-D chipset. As mine was not a new build, I hooked up my SSD to the new board, and surprisingly, it booted right away. Had Paragon ISO ready to go if necessary, just didn't need it.

My keyboard and mouse were connected to the USB/2 ports, they worked as well. That the USB/2 ports worked at all surprised me, as I was expecting a much more difficult transition. But, I was not loading Win 7 from a USB port, only trying to use my keyboard and mouse. After booting and getting some basic drivers loaded, I was able to get the MB disk running and loaded the remaining drivers I didn't have, including USB 3.

Yea I was looking at the Corsair gaming headphones but it's not high on the priorities list to get one.
I only play single player so :/
Headphones in general seem to just deafen me anyway I just crank up the sound bar and blast away :)
