Yes you can, but not in your case. Unfortunately for you yours in a HP computer (would be the same if it was a Dell, etc), and HP and just about any other off-the-shelf computer manufacturer locks the bios so that the features/settings that allow for overclocking are inaccessible.
I believe there are program to accomplish overclocking as well. I'm not any help with the programs part of it as I have it easy (bios overclocking) but its something that should be looked into. :)
To the original poster, it would help if you posted what Athlon II X2 you have. For example there are Athlon II X2 240's, 245's, and so on. (I have the 240)
For what it's worth here is the motherboard in his HP,
Motherboard Specifications, M2N68-LA (Narra6) HP Pavilion Slimline s5300uk Desktop PC - HP Customer Care (Hong Kong - English)
Nvidia based board (6150SE 430) and at best if it work with it for a software overclocking solution,
NVIDIA DRIVERS 6.06
You could use softFSB or something similar. This would require a supported clock generator on your motherboard. You would have to open the case and find the chip on your board and verify the model number for the clock generator. google how to do this if you dont know what i mean.
You're in the same boat as the OP. Short of a new motherboard, no as Gateway locks their bios as well.
