Windows popping up really slowly

I run a Windows 7 64 bit, 6GB Ram, 1 TB, 2GB nvidia card system, that I recently did a factory restore on. It has worked great for the past 2 months since I did so. Until yesterday.

All of a sudden, my mouse stops working. It is a wired laser mouse, and the laser wasn't on. I changed it's usb port, and it would try to install it again, and fail. I have no idea why.

So, I use my keyboard to restart my computer. The restart takes forever. It took about 6 minutes to get to the windows screen. Still, my mouse doesn't work. But also, now, I have a problem where programs seem to run fine, but if I tab between windows, they maximize/minimize to the tray very slowly. I am not noticing a decrease in performance per say in the programs. (Just played some Guild Wars 2, while running the McAfee stinger, and google Chrome with 2 tabs, with no problem, getting about 50-80 fps while in combat) I looked at my task manager, which showed nothing out of the ordinary for stuff running (AVG antivirus, Chrome, Explorer, as the big ones). I am using AVG antivirus free, which is up to date, and have never had a virus in 10+ years of using it. Scan showed nothing either. All updates from Windows Update are set. I also use msconfig to disable all programs from starting up except AVG.

Why would my windows take about 3 seconds to minimize to the tray? Thank you for all the help.

No one here recommends AVG for years. Use Microsoft Security Essentials with Win7 firewall, kept updated Automatically for all security and performance updates and/or drivers.

Chrome can also be buggy besides being pernicious spyware which tracks your every move and pastes interest ads.

Not sure what the MucAfee reference is but it is the worst thing we see here that can be installed to Win7.

Besides those work through these Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 starting with a Clean Boot, scan the logs for repeat errors, test hardware, etc.

Well, I did what you said, installed the MSE, but what is wrong with AVG? I guess I never heard anything bad about it, only good things, and have not really questioned it as it seems to have been working for the past few years.

Also, you are saying that Chrome basically has built in spyware that promotes ads for me? Should I go back to Firefox? The McAfee stinger is a free tool from McAfee that is to look for specific nasty trojans/worms/ ect. I will uninstall it however, only installed it when this problem arose, right as I was starting this post. So it isn't a cause of the problem, I know that.

Also, on further review of the situation with my mouse, if I do a startup from complete shutdown, my mouse works fine. But it doesn't seem to work when I come out of sleep mode. Any ideas on that one? Thank you so much.

Would be using Chrome be why I then got pop up bubble ads on key words on websites like espn, ect. when reading an article in the past?

Also, any ideas about my mouse problem? I thought it might be an issue with my usb ports, but I have moved my keyboard to every one of the ports, and couldn't replicate my mouse issue. When it comes from sleep, the mouse flickers with power, then goes out. But if I restart my comp, it works just fine. None of my other usb devices have this issue, even when switching them to the current port my mouse is. Do you think it's a windows 7 issue, or a mouse issue? (Going to test with a wired mouse throughout the day after I sleep to test the mouse issue possibility)
