64Bit OS wont utilize my 16GB memory.

Hi Guys,

So I have a 64bit laptop with 16gb ram running 7 ultimate 64bit.

If I have a few programs open my computer starts to grind to a halt when it hits 3.5-4gb ram being used.

I have only ever seen it hit around 6-7GB when I was doing MASSIVE stuff in Excel. If I have other applications that need more memory, they grind to a halt.

Why cant my system seem to utilize the full 16gb memory?

any ideas?

thanks

Mike
