Boot up ok but my PC takes 10 min to connect to my WiFi

When I turn on my PC, Windows starts normally and the PC connects to my WiFi right away, but for only one minute or so, then it disconnects from my WiFi. As soon as it disconnects, my task bar goes from translucent to opaque. After 7 or 8 minutes it reconnects to my WiFi, and all is well with internet access and the task bar returns to translucent. The PC works normally during this 7 or 8 minutes, except for not having internet access. FYI my wireless network adapter driver is up to date. Also FYI, my laptop and my smart phone connect and stay connected to my WiFi with no problems or delays. Any suggestions how to eliminate this 7-8 minute wait will be greatly appreciated!

I would say try to power cycle both the modem and the router. Unplug both the router and modem and wait about a minute or so. Then plug the modem back in and let that boot; then plug the router back in and let that boot. Also check for any router firmware updates which might help resolve any issues. Also; check for updates for your system board; and for updates for any other associated hardware; if none of these things work; post back and we can go from there.

Thanks for your suggestion. I followed your recommendations exactly but unfortunately the problem is still unresolved.

Try updating your wireless card driver via the Driver Manager or your Wireless card adapter manufacturer's website.

Thank you for your help and suggestions. I decided to purchase Windows 8.1 and did a full wipe and install. Now my PC is working perfectly.
