Start off by doing a repair install .. This will show you how to do a repair upgrade install to fix your currently installed Windows 7 and preserve your user accounts, data, programs, and system drivers. We'll go from there if your problem still persists ...

You may want to format and do a clean install at this point... be sure to back up your data first...

How many startup items you have? how many processes are running in task manager? which uses the most?

+1 .. check msconfig/startup and disable everything but your antivirus, and reboot... Try booting into safe mode and see if your problem still exists...

Is your computer behaving the same way in safe mode? Is any 3rd party applications installed? Is your computer a branded or assembled one?
