Screen keeps going black because of inactivity

Well, my computer screen has been going black for every 5 minutes, but i've already set all the options to never or to 0 minutes, but still the black screen just appears when im watching video or whatever that im doing without using the mouse. Can you please help me solve this problem because it's kinna annoying. Thank you

screen saver? , i know its not supposed to kick in but mine even does when im benchmarking with prime 95!!

right click desktop - personalise and selct screensaver and turn off

i've already select the option 'none' but still the black screen keeps on appearing when im inactive.

Are the fans all stopping too? Going into hibernation mode, I wonder?
Your monitor have it's own inactivity mode that might need adjusting?

Try this: click your start menu, in the search box type CMD
Once the CMD box comes up, do: powercfg -h off
It will not say anything, you have just turned off hibernation (very large hiberfil.sys)

If this gives error about admin, I am on as an admin acct, you might need to run command prompt as admin from the programs/accessories listing.

to run cmd as administrator (what's called an elevated command prompt)

WIN key | type CMD.EXE | do NOT hit Enter key | Right-click on CMD.EXE in the list (it'll be the top one) | click on Run as administrator


WIN key is the one with the funny looking wavy flag on it.

OP may not want to turn off Hibernation, just check its setting under Sleep in Advanced Power Options.

Check also Display and Sleep timeout, and set your preferred Power Options plan to default settings.

I tried what you described above but I am getting the following message:

!powercfg-h off is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

This is a brand new computer and it keeps going onto a black screen ALL THE TIME!! can not watch any online TV or editing work or even brows through amazon without having to keep pushing a button or move the mouse around.

Tried changing the power setting; no change although I have set it on never going to sleep mode etc.

Any idea?

Don't Put The Screensaver As Blank Put It As None Blank Put A Blank Black Screen Up In The Time Set For It
