Do you use the home group feature? If not, their are two services that can be disabled and if you don't have a tablet PC you can disable that service too.

    Hi from Uruguay.
    Happy 2011!!!
I need some help about this.
I have the same problem, but after I did it as explained above, my laptop continues to set the same.
    4GB (2.93 usable).
The 2 ddr3 (2GB each), work correctly regardless if I take one out, w7 detects 2GB.
Dont know what else to do, I reinstalled w7 64bit twice.
    I need help!!
My laptop is, viewsonic vnb 145, Core I3.

If you run resmon and look at the memory tab, is the "missing" memory listed as hardware reserved?

Yes, the 1gb ram missing appears as Hardware reserverd.

I tell u that... when I install 2gb into the laptop... W7 says 2GB (1,86 usable), that´s ok for video sharing...

    Hardware reserved: 140MB

    But when I install both ddr3, 2+2, (4gb)..W7 says 4Gb (2.93 usable).

    Hardware reserved: 1100MB.

    -------------

    Bios: Total Ram: 3,93GB

Bios only let me modify this:
    1) DVMT Pre-allocated: 32 - 64 - 128
    2) Total Graphics Memory: 128 - 256 - MAXDVMT

    Actually is set:1) 32 and 2) MAXDVMT
(I´ve tried each point and is the same...so this point no help)

    Thanks for your help.

As mentioned in the other thread you started for this same exact topic, you'll have to contact viewsonic to get anywhere further (and there's no guarantee that there is anything further that can be done, honestly).

Open resmon and click on the memory tab to get that info.

Thanks, does this look OK? I'd have thought there would be a bit more available:

Having ~2.6GB of 4GB free seems sufficient for me. Unused RAM is wasted RAM.
