The Windows Experience Index measures the capability of your computer's hardware and software configuration and expresses this measurement as a number called a base score. A higher base score generally means that your computer will perform better and faster than a computer with a lower base score, especially when performing more advanced and resource-intensive tasks.

Each hardware component receives an individual subscore. Your computer's base score is determined by the lowest subscore. For example, if the lowest subscore of an individual hardware component is 2.6, then the base score is 2.6. The base score is not an average of the combined subscores.

You've received some excellent advice which will enable you to update your system.

However, your wei score is determined by your lowest score. You could have a disk score of 7 but if you have a graphics score of 1 then your overall score is 1.

The scores should be taken only as ballpark figures and indications of where your system is weak and strong.

By installing a SSD in my laptop, I increased my disk score by about 2 points. More important is that I received a noticeable performance increase. The scores aren't all that important. As always, you can improve your computer's performance by increasing the ram. In your case, if that laptop will take 4GB then you would get a performance boost by changing from 2GB to 4GB.
