| Windows 7: can't access SYSTEM in control panel |

can't access SYSTEM in control panel All of a sudden, I can't access the SYSTEM window under control panel or from anywhere else, and anything within system I cannot access either, when I click on SYSTEM in control panel, nothing happens. Everything else in control panel works as it should. For example, if I click on "Change name of computer" directly from control panel, it also doesn't work, because it would open the SYSTEM window which does not want to open.
This is weird indeed, please help if you can, I really don't want to reformat yet, I got everything working as I want. I tried system restore, accessed that through RUN command (rstrui) but when I try to go to one a week ago, it says I have errors on C and won't go, even tho there are definitely no errors (checked with many programs, including chkdsk /f and sector check at bootup).

I'm running that now, but what does that do?
No ideas on what could cause my SYSTEM window not to exist anymore? I can't access the window or anything that exists in the window (for example, advanced options such as setting virtual file settings, or computer name, etc). | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit CPU AMD Opteron 165 Motherboard DFI Ultra-D Memory OCZ 3GB Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD3870 Sound Card Onboard Monitor(s) Displays 2 x Dell 2405fpw Keyboard Logitech Navigator & Gyration Ultra Mouse MX1000 & Gyration Ultra PSU OCZ Powerstream 520 Case Antec P180 Cooling 2 x 120mm intake, 2 x 120mm exhaust Hard Drives WD Raptor 150GB OS Drive *

It scans your system files and replaces any wrong, changed, or corrupted files with originals. It can correct system files gone bad, lol. Wow, thank you! No, the same thing does not happen, I finally have access to the advanced system properties again! When I right click on the My Computer and properties, from there I can access everything, including Advanced System Properties and Device Properties etc. Thank you, but I'm still not sure why I cannot get to System from Control Panel. What is the actual command that brings up System window? | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit CPU AMD Opteron 165 Motherboard DFI Ultra-D Memory OCZ 3GB Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD3870 Sound Card Onboard Monitor(s) Displays 2 x Dell 2405fpw Keyboard Logitech Navigator & Gyration Ultra Mouse MX1000 & Gyration Ultra PSU OCZ Powerstream 520 Case Antec P180 Cooling 2 x 120mm intake, 2 x 120mm exhaust Hard Drives WD Raptor 150GB OS Drive *

Never mind, it appears to have fixed itself, now everything works as normal, except..
For some reason, I can no longer run Avast or Windows Defender, when I try to turn them on, it says ACCESS DENIED DUE TO GROUP POLICY. I never changed any group policies, weird indeed. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit CPU AMD Opteron 165 Motherboard DFI Ultra-D Memory OCZ 3GB Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD3870 Sound Card Onboard Monitor(s) Displays 2 x Dell 2405fpw Keyboard Logitech Navigator & Gyration Ultra Mouse MX1000 & Gyration Ultra PSU OCZ Powerstream 520 Case Antec P180 Cooling 2 x 120mm intake, 2 x 120mm exhaust Hard Drives WD Raptor 150GB OS Drive *

Hello salvinorum.
It may be a good idea to run a malware/virus scan to see if you've picked up any nastys; download and install the free version of MBAM from the link below, then install and run a full scan and be sure to post back with the results. Thanx for the idea, but I always have MBAM installed and running, it did not report anything and a full scan shows everything is good. I don't know what happened, but something did about a week ago, I installed Adobe Flash, and it installed McAffee free antivirus with it, and since then everything went to hell, I tried to get rid of it, and I did, but since then my group rights have been messed with, I cannot get Avast back up and running, Windows Defender is reporting off and I cannot turn it back on, I cannot access System etc, it's just ridiculous. I even tried a system restore from 2 days before that fateful day, and even that failed, it said the system cannot be restored due to errors on C drive, and recommended I check it, I did and it is perfect with no errors, even an in depth check found nothing, not even orphaned entries, let alone bad sectors, and still no system restore possible, yet when I go to sys restore now, it gives me an option to restore the system to before the system restore (which did not work). what a mess.
Other then the above the system is fine, its fast as always, responsive, and everything works as it should (apps and games, internet and media etc), it's just administrative stuff that is giving me a headache, and since I'm a power user it's really annoying. A normal user wouldn't even notice these things, so it's not urgent, but I like my system perfect and super stable. | My System Specs | | OS Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit CPU AMD Opteron 165 Motherboard DFI Ultra-D Memory OCZ 3GB Graphics Card ATI Radeon HD3870 Sound Card Onboard Monitor(s) Displays 2 x Dell 2405fpw Keyboard Logitech Navigator & Gyration Ultra Mouse MX1000 & Gyration Ultra PSU OCZ Powerstream 520 Case Antec P180 Cooling 2 x 120mm intake, 2 x 120mm exhaust Hard Drives WD Raptor 150GB OS Drive *
