I would recommend anyone who has a x64 win7 to NOT use a reg. cleaner unless it specifically says x64 compatible. I use this program with no problems at all with a x64 system just messing around. I ran the reg cleaner and it said about 600+ errors in the registry. Well obviously a clean install of a OS is not going to have that many errors. Use CCleaner for registry cleaning in 7.
Same thing happened years ago with Vista x64. Reg cleaners are not auto-compatible with x64's and it will pretty much break your system.
I am not a genius but if I ran a program and it said it was going to delete 600+ entries from my registry, I would not just go ahead and click [ok]

Actually not even CCleaner is safe right now...using it on the reg cleaner disrupts Windows Device Stage...Bluetooth Capability...Windows Speech Recognition...and lord knows what else...for right now it is best to not use a reg cleaner at all (unless you look before it deletes and only get rid of what your looking for...)

As an IT professional, I ALWAYS back up my registry (even manually create a system restore point) and recommend to others to do the same before running any reg or anti spyware cleaner/remover A good reg cleaner should recommend or automatically make a back up of your registry before cleaning your system. Max Registry is a good cleaner, that automatically backs up before cleaning.

I'm on 7100 and have had no issues for weeks with CCleaner, but then again bluetooth and speech rec. are not on my plate... +1 for the "just dont use a reg cleaner" and add, expecially in x64's untill you have an idea what is even going on.

no issues with ccleaner as yet. Its the only one I trust for messing with registry.

Never use one of the registry tools. Especially not from a company that isn't even able to make a W7 edition that works beyond the RC
Only use these tricks but be careful with the services disabling. Use ccleaner, Auslogics disk defrag and use Kaspersky KIS and you will have a stable and clean system.
If you really know what you do, you can use ccleaner registry too to MANUALLY clean some things you de-installed. i doubt there is much benefit, though.
there is a thread in the software section with free W7 tools for CD burning, etc. use those. If in dount, ask if it is W7 compatible.
And again, don't use registry cleaners. If you are lucky they are useless, or if not they screw you up.
the fewer tools and software you use the leaner your system is. Especially this software seems to be less than what anyone would want.

Forgive the noobishness.. but i take it if i'm on build 7000 i need to download the newer builds and install those?
Also if i need to do that, i take it i can update and not lose all my stuff?
