    has anyone used this:

    Mz Ultimate Tools

it seems to have lots of performance tweaks, i used to use the vista one and it did seem to help, but i know a lot of tweaks dont work or used to work in very old operating systems, if anyone has used this program etc be glad to hear what they think

Generally speaking, most of us in this forum don't endorse further tweaking of the OS. We have found with Windows 7 that it's pretty well tweaked out of the box. Most of these whiz-bang tweak guides simply don't provide any better performance and can often lead to worse performance.

    +1 pparks

Can also lead to you posting in the Crashes and Debugging section "What happened to my system?"

Tweaked to death by registry damage.

And to take it a little further, from that site,

    Here are some key features:

    • Boosts PC performance - add ram or upgrade
    • Speed up games - turning off services won't do anything, again upgrade if you want more speed
    • Tweak and personalize Windows - who knows what this will do
    • Increase system security - see above
    • Smart memory & processor management - uhm, yeah; 7 already does a very good job of this
    • Increase network performance and download speeds - you want faster downloads, get a faster internet connection, there is no magic tweak for this one
    • Optimize & backup your registry - or break things depending on how aggressive it is
    • Remove unused and temporary files from your system - Windows own Disk Cleanup will do that, or for a little more ccleaner
    • Configure Windows startup and services - msconfig, Sevices or again ccleaner for a sort of all-in-one for this sort of thing

Taking a quick glance at most of supposed features are nothing more then myths and snake oil that do absolutely nothing.

+1 For an OS that had the roots of its development underway even before XP was released Windows 7's excellent performance 'out of the box' is the product of almost a decade of development and continual refinement.
