    windows 7 BSOD

Hi i just installed the windows 7 RC1 and i'm having some issues. The os will run perfectly when im using, but when i leave it for an extended period of time ill come back to it having crashed. at this point ill get a bsod a chunk of time into every start-up (maybe 10-20 minutes, its kind of random) until i just turn it off and leave it off for a minute or so. Then when i turn it on it works perfectly fine. Then i leave it sitting for a while and it happens again...

At first i thought it was an issue with the auto hibernate/sleep, so i went and changed it to never go into sleep mode, but it's still happening. it's possible i missed an option somewhere else that has an auto sleep/standy-by type effect. i had this issue in xp and once i stopped using stand by the problem stopped.

heres the crash dump info for on the crashes

You'll have to tell us if you are dual booting with Vista (what version?) and upgrade/or is this a 'clean install' over Vista

sorry to jump in but I have the same problem.
What happens is if i leave the PC for 10 minutes or so the screen turns off this in turn causes the BSOD, however if i hit a key etc. the screen shows the BSOD then immediateley restarts the PC but goes to the screen that gives the safe option modes, I can then restart normally,
This is a copy of the message i get when it restarts.
Files that help describe the problem:
    C:\Windows\Minidump\060709-13671-01.dmp
    C:\Users\claudio\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-23515-0.sysdata.xml
    Additional information about the problem:
    BCCode: 1000007e
    BCP1: FFFFFFFFC0000005
    BCP2: 0000000000000000
    BCP3: FFFFF88002FD98E8
    BCP4: FFFFF88002FD9140
    OS Version: 6_1_7100
    Service Pack: 0_0
    Product: 256_1

A possible fix that i have just tried is to revert all the power settings to default, turn off the screen saver and switch the network adapter back to allow to wake, whilst not an ideal solution it seems to have worked.

    Bowdagger:
are you using an HDMI connection to your monitor?, I ask as i dont remeber this problem when i had it connected via VGA.

But then again i have only just turned on the screen saver not that turning it off again made any difference un til i reverted all my settings.
    Hope its of some help.

just googled ntkrnlmp.exe and found this
Error Message: Ntkrnlmp.exe Could Not Be Loaded Error Code 7
I know that it is an XP related error however it does mention to check your bios and whether or not it has issues with acpi, try enabling or disabling it whichever is appropriate. all the other help pages say to do the same.

As an update since i reverted all my power options back to default and switched off screen savers(set to none), i have not had a BSOD, might need to report this.

Just searched technet for that error code and besides the xp stuff there is a refernce to the same error code and AMD64 machines. It does seem to have something to do with acpi compliance. I will see if I can find something thats more on point for ya

Cheers still looking myself, however my system seems more stable since i changed my settings back to default, which is annoyong as being able to go into sleep mode and having the use of a screen saver is helpful as i use my lcd tv as a monitor.
