I've been using CCleaner for once a weak for two months now, and after reading this article Are Registry Cleaners Safe to Use? ~ Chris Pirillo, I realized I've harmed my machine instead of "cleaning" it. What should I do now?
CCleaner is still a great program to use. Just don't use/run the registry option. If your system is running fine, do not worry. Registry cleaners can, the operative word is can,cause problems but will not always cause problems. Registry fragmentation (as mentioned in the article), unless severe, will not slow down your computer.
Ccleaners Reg. cleaner is actually rather mild.
For the most part, it does fine without any major problems.
Allthough Ccleaner usually only deletes safe entries, I would suggest not using the Reg. Cleaner portion of it however.
Theres always a chance it could cause a problem.
If it hasn't caused any issues so far, I wouldn't worry about it. Just be mindful in the future.
I agree with Zigzag, If it isnt broken dont worry about it.

Those who peddle Regcleaners should be fined. There is absolutely no need for these destructive programs. The "registry fragmentation" is not a real problem, just perceived.
As to your daily maintenance - best is to do nothing other than defrag the HDD once a month and delete temporary files if there are more than 1GB worth. For that, CCleaner is useful.
