Discovering items (when copying, deleting, etc) takes a long time

When i move files from different partitions or try to delete files or add files to a flash drive it discovers items or calculates and takes too long. Ive read different solutions like check in safe mode, get rid of antivirus software, rebuild index, etc

Since theres so many solutions need to know what to do on my particular laptop.

Ok did clean boot, dont think it helped. When i move a smaller file (60mb) from one partition to another it automatically moves, but a particular file im trying to move (and any big files a few gigs) has to discover all the data.

Why do I need to do this, isnt there a fix? I have a xp on another computer and It doesnt do it, even though I've read of it happening.

Ok so do one of these programs take over and automatically handle delete, copy, move operations or is there a right click menu or something? And which one would you recommend? Funny that one of them is a microsoft one (why have this program when they could just issue a fix instead, unless MS didnt make it).
