    Indexing local hard disk

    Hi Guys,

We are having some issues with the new indexing functions in windows 7 in our enterprise.

All our administrators have access to the local hard disk and therefore when they search for programs in the start menu, They display correctly. for example when you type "snip" the snipping tool displays in the start menu.

Our normal users do not have administrator rights and do not have any rights at all to the local hard disk because all of their data is on a network share (Except for their loal profile whih is still local)/ They cannot access the local hard disk at all.

When a normal account does the same search for "snip" nothing appears.

I am guessing that since they doi not have rights to the local hard disk they cannot see this search?

If this is correct, Is there a way that i can give access to the search results and still have them not access the local hard disk for security reasons.

Sorry if this is a silly question

    Jase

The gpo determines what the users have access to. I assume you are using active directory. I think it's a matter of setting paths and allowing access to system32, where the tool is located.
