Task Scheduler...

As I mentioned elsewhere, I've never used Vista, so I don't know if task Scheduler under Win 7 and Vista share things in common.

Frankly, I was amazed at the number of events that appear to be scheduled! I have never had a need to use this function under XP, do I really need all this stuff running now?

Could you snip a pic (or tell us) what the many things running in task manager are? Im not really a fan of task scheduler running in background using resources but hey its a small price to pay for having a backup run overnight, etc

Just open it for yourself zigzag and youl see the number of items scheduled. Most of those I would assume are necessary.

I've had a play around with the Vista task scheduler before and you can even set it to run movies & mp3s at certain times

Hey I would except Im working on a damaged box where scheduler is disabled and cant be re-enabled. Just too lazy to re-install 7201 right now.

Some of the entries make some sense, others really don't!

Sorry but that makes perfect sense. Its the event that triggers the logon sound when you get to your desktop. I suspect there is a similar entry for logoff and other situations.
