Welcome
With a fix like this it is always best to start with a System Restore point. Neither of us know the true effect that the update will have.
FIX: You receive an "Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion" error message when you stop or pause a managed Windows service

Try starting the service manually with the net start command. So, at the command prompt, type:
net start <service name>
Service names of two words or more must be enclosed in quotation marks. For example, NET START "COMPUTER BROWSER" starts the computer browser service.
I tried that too but got this
The service is not responding to the control function.
More help is available by typing NET HELPMSG 2186.
Did you check the Event Logs for errors??
In an elevated Command Prompt type: eventvwr <enter>
I would say, reinstall the app or contact their support staff, this looks like a compatibility or coding problem.
None of those Services shown in your screenshot need to run in Win7 until they are opened. If they are listed in Startup tab then they are permanent freeloaders on your Startup, RAM and CPU.
The only listings in msconfig Startup tab which need to start with Win7 are your AV and gadgets or stickynotes. All others are user choice or freeloaders. Startup Programs - Change
Marc's updater is unknown, may be poorly written and unsuitable for Win7. If your router is really unable to update DNS, I'd contact tech support to find out why not, how to configure it properly, or replace it.
