    Noises in my laptop

Hi - I recently upgraded the Hard Drive to a SSD and no issues.

Oddly, when the laptop boots up I hear a metallic dull noise that sounds like a smooth grinding noise if that makes sense. I always thought this was the magnetic old skool hard drive but to my amazement this noise carries on even with a SSD.

I didnt realise anything else moves in a latop - I thought it was just the magnetic drive and I guess optical drive....

    Is this only me?

You still have a fan installed which provides cooling to both the CPU and GPU. Excess heat is transferred to the fan from the CPU and GPU via heatpipes. Like all mechanical fans, it is subject to possible bearing failure and blockage by dust. Refer to your laptop manual for details on how to clean the fan.

thanks for that. I guess there comes a time when you have to unscrew the laptop and basically clean it
