Do i need to defrag win 7 64, and if so which app is the best.

The built in defragmenter works just fine.
By default, it should be set to an automatic schedule to defrag when it hits the 10% threshold.
Having said that there are other 3rd party defragmenters that offer more features, are more configurable, and have various ways of defragmenting the hard drive.
If you prefer to go this route.
You will get many opinions on the subject, but my personal favorite 3rd party is Perfect Disc by Raxco and its Microsoft certified.
This is a paid program however.
Whats "best" probably comes down to user preference more than anything.
But,as I said, the built in one should work just fine.

+1 for Wishmaster.
I also highly recommend PerfectDisk for both the speed and Smart Placement options.

+10 for Raxco's Perfect Disk 11. More so since it is Microsoft certified. I had been with Raxco since version 8 and was also a beta tester for 11 Pro. Their customer support has always been good and they do care to keep it that way, unlike many other software vendors.

Puran Defrag is what i use and recommend, on second place i recommend JKDefrag.

I let Windows take care of it and have had no issues.

I use VOPT from Goldenbow software, they have a 30day trial, not crippled and it is reasonable.
Versions for most any windows OS.
I have used it for 15 years at least. Having paid and beta tested older versions.
