I would run the native chkdsk program rather than a third party program like Disc Doctor ... try running chkdsk /f from an elevated command prompt..

As per the tutorial link given by Tews

    chkdsk /R

Checks for physical disk error. It's a full scan for bad sectors and recovery. BUT it can take a long time depending on the size of the HDD.

The 'R' does not need to be capitalized.

Sometimes running Disk Check from the Win7 DVD/Repair CD Command Line works better. Boot DVD/CD, press Shift + F10 at first screen to open Command Line, or click through to Recovery Tools list to access it.

If Disk Check discovers problems it is also a good idea to run HD maker's diagnostics/repair CD scan which can fix surface errors to prolong HD life: Hard Drive Diagnostics Tools and Utilities (Storage) - TACKtech Corp.
