What does it mean when both memtest86 and WMD test stop running and reboot after 3-5% on first pass?
This is a scan of Dimension 2350 which hangs badly running either XP or Windows 7 with 1gb of RAM and Pentium 4 1.9ghz: tested both 512 sticks in both OS's together and indiv, replaced with old set of known-good 2x 256 sticks but the test also stops and reboots after starting each time.
Edit: Kingston says the 512 sticks are PC3200 but should be PC 2100 causing overclock that makes tests go haywire. Question then is why did they run fine for 3 years before hang started during infection of XP, even after cleanup of XP, then after wipe and install of Windows 7; and why do the old known-good 256mb pair abort the tests too?
Do we have to assume RAM is hang culprit because it aborts every test in every config? Or could mobo be at issue?
