    Win 7 lag

    Hi

I dont really have a specific problem, it just seems that most things are a bit laggy, such as opening and closing windows, scrolling in any program, dragging windows. It just is like skippy and the response time is a little slow.

I'm not that versed in self-diagnosing, just went with 7 cause its free atm and pointless to buy vista so close to 7's release.

Also when i watch videos on hulu fullscreen i get like 3 fps, wondering if this may be a problem with flash? i have 32 bit firefox and the lastest version of flash off adobe's webiste. Even youtube videos have the videos lag a little behind the audio when fullscreened.

Well looking at your system you have a powerful enough setup so I dont see why you would have any of those problems at all. Just curious but have you installed the latest nvidia drivers for your videocard and the latest intel specific motherboard drivers after you installed your OS?

well updating my nvidia driver fix the scrolling problem, but opening and closing windows is still not smooth (not really a problem but it should be smooth so there is something wrong...). And still have the problem with flash.

I have the same thing... had it looked at by several different technicians anbd the general verdict is graphics card/graphics card drivers... I'm using my Vista drivers on Win 7... they all work fine except for the GC drivers... I may Rivatune a bit this weekend

    Graphics Lagging

    Hey "bigseb"
I have the same problem, on 2 different PC's (both in Win 7 x64 one Quad and the other Dual) and I have run diagnostics tests to find the problem.
And the problem is not in the Graphics Drivers but in the OS DWM program.

If the Graphics you are running is with Windows Media Player (either forefront or background) especially in a browser or with a browser running, MS DWM runs DPC's (Deferred Procedure Calls) back and forth in both the media player and browser causing the major lagging.

    go figure

The only solution I found is to run Media Player Classic instead of WMP.

i had laggy opening windows and fixed it by changing the menu show delay ...in regedit

In regedit, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\desktop In the right panel right click on MenuShowDelay and click on Modify it should say about 300 change it to 1

Thanx for your reply LL. Maybe I misunderstood the original problem but I use my laptop for work and run mainly CAD/CAM stuff... when I have three or four of those running THEN I get that lag I spoke about... particularly when flipflopping back and forth between apps... anyway I'll be getting an extra 2GB RAM this weekend and doing the rivatune thing... hopefully that's iron things out...
