How to check Bad Sectors on Windows 7 ?

    Hi Everyone,
First of all this forum is really cool and very helpful... i am using windows 7 but i want to install xp on my system ... problem is when i install XP after installation a blue screen error comes and my system restarts automatically ... Windows 7 is running fine ... one of my friend told me that maybe there are bad sectors in your HDD
I have 1TB of HDD and i have try to run chkdsk in win 7 run but its not working when i put chkdsk and enter it , it shows dos window and then it goes off suddenly so is there any other method to check bad sectors in win 7 ?
and what about my blue screen error after installing XP ?

Try the different methods for running chkdsk, particularly steps number 8, 11 in this tutorial so that you can schedule it to run upon rebooting.

because you are trying to dual boot, this is more than likely NOT bad sectors, doesn't hurt to check, but I doubt that it is.

See this.. Scroll down to Method 2
