xps printer not listed among printers

    Greetings,

I just installed Win7 Ultimate 64x. Today I wanted to print an article online using the Windows xps printer. To my dismay there is no xps printer listed in Explorer's 8, File, General Print tab.

So far googling has not resulted in finding a solution.

Any ideas how to resolve this?

    Thank you.

First off, check to set if the feature is turned on.
Control Panel > Programs > Turn Windows features on or off.

Are the XPS Services and XPS Viewer boxes checked?
If not, check the boxes and OK out.

Thank you for that advice. I did as you said, and yes the XPS Services and XPS Viewer boxes are checked.

When you click on Start> Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Printers,
is there a Microsoft XPS Document Writer?

If not, try to add it.
    Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Printers

    Select the following:
    Add a Printer> Add a local printer> XPSPort: (Local Port)> Microsoft> XPS Document Writer>
Use the driver that is currently installed (recommended)>
Select if you want to share the printer.

    Good luck.

    Thank you p5bdkw!

I found the XPS Document Writer in the Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Printers. Microsoft One Note2010 was selected as the default printer (I didn't make the selection, apparently Windows did). Anyway, I made XPS Document Writer the default printer and now it appears in the General Tab for printers.

BTW, do you know of a way to convert xps documents to Word documents?
