Several "Visual C++" intalled, is this right?

I was going through "Programs and features" and I saw several Microsoft Visual C++ installed on my PC: Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable, C++ 2005 Redistributable x64, C++ 2008 Redistributable, C++ 2008 Redistributable x64, C++ 2010 Redistributable, I also have installed: Visual C++ 8.0 Runtime Setup Package (x64).

So, the question is: Do I need all those Visual C++ programs? Because that doesn't seem right.

Another thing, do I need both of these, MS .NET framework 4 Client Profile and MS .NET framework 4 Extended? I'm a little concerned about this, 'cause if those programs are unnecessary it could significantly slow down my computer.

It's normal depending on what app/game installs it.

Unless you know for certain that you have removed the app that installed it and that it definitely not being utilized anymore, I would leave it alone.

    +1

i would leave it all as it is - each of the libraries has been installed for a reason by software.

Hmm, so I guess there is no way to know if a program is using any of those Visual C++ programs!?

you could try uninstalling the c++ libraries, then see which programs crash , but i think it's better just to keep them - it's not like they are using lots of hard-drive space.

(sorry, shouldn't post whilst under the influence )

    heh heh - that's one method :)

Aside from trawling through numerous setup logs trying to find which app installed what - it really is easier to leave them alone.
