8gb of memory

    8gb of memory


    i have a (ASUS P5Q Pro Turbo) motherboard/ intel core 2 Quad Q9550 cpu oc'd 4.1gh and 8gb of memory. i'm thinking of getting 8gb more memory but i want to no, am i going to see some Performance difference or not ?

    You will be able to load quite a few more programs at once, as far as speed there may be a noticeable amount. Now the HDD and CPU will begin to be the bottlenecks.

    Highly unlikely unless you are using software that is really taking advantage of all that ram. Things like SQL Servers, Exchange Servers or multiple concurrent virtual machines.

    Run perfmon and resmon and see how much RAM you actually have in use. You might be surprised to see that you aren't using that much between 4 and 8GB already. Going to 16GB might be unnoticeable.
