    High CPU Usage

I believe I have pin pointed my high cpu usage problem. I noticed that the svchost.exe is using alot of cpu at random times. It's killing my COD:Black Ops game. I've attached a screenshot of the services running under the svchost.exe process. What do I do next?

svchost.exe is a shell of sorts that can have many other programs running under it. A good way to see exactly what is running under each one (there are many running, I currently have 14) is to run Process Explorer

It can show you what is under each copy of svchost.exe and how much CPU each is using.

My cpu usage is in the single digits until I start Black Ops and then some of them start up.

Process Explorer can still help you see what the cause is. If it's Black Ops then I don't have any suggestions. But first, see what is using all the CPU.

If it's Black Ops then you live with it I guess or get a faster CPU or add more memory and see if that helps. If it's another program perhaps it can be terminated when you run BO?

    Hello,

after a week of agony with high CPU usage (svchost.exe was the reason), and many different tricks - here is the solution (worked for me): disable IP Helper. If you don't use IPv6 protocol, you can do it safely. Finally my CPU works like it should.
