Performance scores

I've just built a machine -i5 2500 Gigabyte GA-H67A-UD3H-B3 8Gb RAM and the thing is flyiing yet my score only comes up 4.2 whereas my Toshiba laptop is running 5.6 with a i5 430m @2.23Ghz dual core and 4Gb RAM.

My other desktop is also only 4.3 mind you it has a two core AMD Athlon II X2 245 @ 2.9Ghz 4Gb RAM on a Gigabyte GA-MA78MLT-S2 board.

I would have thought as I do not have much on the machine (new build) at the moment the score would have been more than the 4.2.

Am I doing something wrong or missed out something - perhaps this about right for the course of things?

Anyway gottta dash to the workhouse (to be able to buy more bits).

You're using integrated graphic on your desktop machine.
That's probably what's giving you a 4.2.

4.2 is not the average, just the number for the lowest link in your system.

Out of curiosity, what item are you getting the 4.2 on?

You may be doing something wrong.

Here are the scores on my machine with the same processor and motherboard. I have 4 GB of ordinary Crucial RAM and a Western Digital Caviar Black 640 GB hard drive, with integrated graphics.

Yeh I think I must be in that case because I'm using a 1Tb Samsung Spinpoint (3Gbs) and 8Gb G Skill Ripjaws RAM.

Ummmm p5bdkw I am not sure of what you are referring to it is the same sort of screen shot that ingatzatstronic sent. I'll take a shot now and send.

Your gaming graphics are low compared to mine (4.6 versus 5.8). That shouldn't be. I suppose it could be due to your hard drive?

Look in Device Manager and locate display adapters. You should see Intel HD graphics family. Look at properties of the display adapter and post a picture of it. It should match mine below since we have the same motherboard.

Ignatzatsonic Heres that pic looks like the drivers a bit old doesn't it?? ooops!

Nope says it's up to date but obviously looking at it it can't be tried on line and in the machine.

Where else??

Yeah, too old. I assume you got it off the CD that came with the motherboard? It's generally better to get drivers direct from Intel or Gigabyte because they will likely be newer.

Replace it with the one at the bottom of this page at Gigabyte. The "Intel VGA driver". If that doesn't work, I think there is an even newer one at Intel.

GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1155 - GA-H67A-UD3H-B3 (rev. 1.1)

I assume you are using Windows 7 64 bit. If not, don't get the above driver.

I think this is the latest one from Intel, but I would try the above one from Gigabyte first.

You might also run this Intel utility which will sniff your system and make recommendations on anything you should update:

OOps

Have downloaded the Intel one and now the whole screen is HUGE - can't even fit the view pane in a 24" screen.

Have set the icons to the smallest size lowest resolution and it's all a bit of a mess really - I did get a blue screen after the Intel downlaod if that has anything to do with it?

Cripes what have I done??

It was the resolution - set to the lowest setting - hell I thought I had cooked it that time :party:

Change your resolution.

Go to control panel and look for Intel HD graphics and open it up and look for the resolution setting. Change it to something that fits your screen.

If that fails, try the driver at Gigabyte that I mentioned above.

When you have that sobered up, re-run that Windows test to see if gaming graphics improved.

Also run that Intel Driver Update Utility.

I would do this:

Do a system restore to say yesterday to get rid of any mistakes you might have made in the last few hours.

Then try to run the WEI test.

Then uninstall all graphics drivers through control panel/programs and features.

Then reboot.

Then install the Gigabyte "Intel VGA" driver I mentioned above.

Then report back.

Me again

Hiyya IG no mate nothing tried to get onto Gigabyte, Intel and I might as well stand naked in the middle of the street and whistle Dixie they are worse than M$ for support. Seriously changing my mind re both for the next build.

By the by my build supplier tells me that the driver ships with this board and I will only get a higheer score when / if I throw in a graphics card - got one one a Gigabyte HD 5450 so will see. As a matter of curiousity do you havea card in place??

Hiyya IG just fitted a Gigabyte HD 5450 card and set it up through HDMI and this is the result.
Is this depressing or what??
At a loss as to what to do now.

I do not use a graphics card. Look at my system specs. I have gaming graphics score of 5.8. Your build supplier is clearly wrong. If I can get 5.8, you should be able to get it. You have a driver issue and I have pointed you to other drivers at Gigabyte and Intel. As well as the Intel Driver update utility.

I'd uninstall graphics driver and proceed by trial and error.

I got a graphics score of 1.0 when I was using ONLY the basic Windows graphics, NOT Intel graphics. I'd guess you have not installed the driver for your separate card. Again, a driver issue.

Have you uninstalled all graphics drivers knowingly yet?

Ok mate I'll have to go down that track only I can't get past donloading the Intel driver then doing another performance test.

Wonder if I should delete the driver then install the downloaded the one I've saved in downloads - yeh that's what I'll do bugga it.
