No. It should have silver or a ceramic base. Those compounds trnasfer heat much better.
Are you speaking of CPU or your GPU? It looks like both from your posts?
As sygnus21 states, brands are up to debate, but I think everyone would agree on the compound type. There is a specialised cleaner for used thermal paste as well and a primer to use after cleaning. I use both if I need to remove the cooler from the CPU. You might look and see if the FAN is removeable from the cooler to leave it intact in the future. Be less hassle.

We would..... but I get the feeling the OP wants to go the cheap easy route.

And honestly any compound would do but yeah, one of the more recognizable brands containing silver or ceramic would be best. This we agree :)

okay im new to applying thermal pastes so i just put it and should i let it try first before running my pc or i can run my pc immedietly ?

i can buy any thermal paste my budget for it is $60 id go buy in computer stores later for now ill have silicon based thermal pasted and would find things to remove those i applied

can you mention the names of those things your saying in removing cooling and after cleaning etc? so i can buy them

There's really no need to do that unless you're doing extreme overclocking where the heat can break down the paste - highly unlikely you'll fall in that category.
Bottom line is "every 5-6 months" completely unnecessary as the paste will certainly last a lot longer than that.

The only time I "replace" my paste is if I swap CPU's or remove the heatsink for some reason. I’ve had systems run for years without replacing the thermo paste under normal use.

Intel Burn Test is a very very severe test, moreso than Prime 95. I'd say that number is not extreme, considering your idle temp is 43.

In a 23 C temp room, a cool running PC will probably idle in the mid 30s. If the room temp moves up 5 degrees, the idle temp will probably rise the same amount or close to it. Your idle temp may be a little high due to several factors: room temp, cramped case, not much help from case fans, etc. But I wouldn't worry about 43 degrees on a Core 2 Duo.

Arctic Silver says that on a Core 2 Duo, you should apply a thin strip of thermal paste down the center of the CPU backplate---about the thickness of uncooked spaghetti. You don't have to spread it around--the tension from the heatsink will spread it out.
