    OVERHEAT

What was the really needed time for computers to rest?
If you use it for 16hours..playing will it shorten your Hard drive life?and can it actually overheat your system if you wont let your PC rest for a while??

    Just asking..well my fan was burned.but i dont actually play 16 hours..it was just 2 hours 3 times a day,randomly. .
    Was it the caused?

Don't know about that, but speaking from personal experience i have let my pc run 84 hours strait, was during a lan and it was playing warcaft, counterstrike and black ops non stop, i was not playing for 84 hours, the time was devided between 8 friends,it was part of a 4day lanning theme thing, but my point is i did not get problems with my rig,but if you think logicaly about it i would say you should shut it down for a hour or two after gaming so long.(the game manuals suggest resting 15 minutes per 1 our play, but that for your sight, you could do that. hahaha

To answer the OP, yes having the PC on for long periods of time will degrade the HDD as its always spinning, even if the PC is idle, it will still kick in every now and again.

As for Heat issues, as long as you have a cool room and good airflow then 16+ hours would be fine.
But as Alsisgevat said, it would be good to shut it down evey so often to give everything a break and prolong the life of mechanical parts, i.e. HDD, fans

I would suspect dust burned out your fan over heat. Good idea to clean your PC fans with a vaccuum and/or compressed air(cover your eyes and hold breath) regularly.

Static can harm your components, touch the casing before touching any components..

I try to clean mine every 3 or 4 months. If you are bad at remembering, do it when you do something else regularly, such as changing your clock for daylight savings time, etc. Check this out
    Computer cleaning information and steps

I like a vaccuum attachmant that has a brush at the end. I have the vaccuum on and I spray compressed air into places while sucking up ther dust with the vaccuum. I ESPECIALLy clean any and all fans and heatsink fins. On modern CPUs, if you get too much dust on the cooling fins on the heatsinks, it may actually get warmer and slow your CPU down. Good luck!

My PC runs 24/7 and is only turned off during upgrades/repairs or extended power outages (usually during hurricanes).

Your fan could have failed from dust/dirt or could just have been a bad unit that didn't last too long.

Ya, it runs all the time, no sleep or hibernation.
How warm does the room get? My room sometimes gets to 90* in the summertime if we don't run the Air Conditioner, and the machine is still fine.
